About Our Practice in Bountiful

Dr. Todd Ellsworth Daynes is a born-and-raised Utahn and a graduate of East High School. An avid swimmer, Dr. Daynes was the Utah State Champion in the 50 yard freestyle.

After high school, Dr. Daynes served an LDS mission in Chile. He then attended the University of Utah, following it with medical school at the University of Utah as well. He completed an intern year at Forest Park Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, before completing a residency at Saint Louis University. Dr. Daynes has since performed thousands of surgeries, exams, glasses fittings, and medical evaluations, and he looks to develop a long-term personal relationship with all of his patients.

Dr. Daynes is a board-certified ophthalmologist and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is also a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, as well as the Utah Ophthalmology Society.

Dr. Daynes has published research in the most esteemed journals of ophthalmology, including The American Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and Ophthalmology. Dr. Daynes has done several medical missions since completing residency, where he has worked in India and Guatemala.

He enjoys competing in IronMan Triathlons and spending time with his family.

Joy Livingood Gibb, ABOC, FNAO, joined Daynes Eye & Lasik in September of 2013 and brings over 35 years of optical experience and a passion for helping patients look their very best.
She is our practice manager, but she also oversees our optical department and is incredibly knowledgeable in frame styling and lens selection.

Joy has written for a national trade publication as well as several industry training guides. She also speaks nationally to other eye care professionals, and works closely with a number of industry businesses. Because of her national involvement, she is able to bring our patients some of the newest product solutions available on the market.

In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, singing, or seeing musicals. She and her late husband, Dale, are the parents of 3 sons and two daughters-in-law —all of whom wear glasses and contacts!

Barb is an amazing asset to Daynes Eye & Lasik and will be the friendly face greeting you at our front desk. She enjoys working with people and making them feel comfortable when visiting our office. From helping with patient paperwork, gathering insurance information, or scheduling appointments, Barb accomplishes things with a smile on her face and takes great pride in doing her job well.

In her spare time Barb enjoys camping and being outdoors with her family.

Kari is the lead technician and surgical coordinator for Daynes Eye & Lasik. She joined our team in January of 2022 and brings over 20 years of experience in the eyecare field. Kari is very passionate about educating our patients and helping them understand how to best care for their eye health.

Armed with a great amount of knowledge regarding surgical procedures, she makes it her priority to make our patients feel calm and confident about their surgeries and will alway make herself available to answer any questions or concerns. Above all, Kari wants to make sure each and every patient has a positive experience when visiting the practice.

Kari and her husband are the parents to four daughters and enjoy supporting them in all their activities. In addition, Kari enjoys traveling – especially to New York!
